Create an event

Choose the right workspace, create your event, and check the basics before you share it.

Before you start

Sign in with an account that can create events in your workspace. Have the event name ready. An existing event website is useful if you want to bring its information into EHQ, but it is not required.

Create the event

  1. Open Events, then New event

Choose New event for a fresh setup. If Copy an event is available, use it to start from an event you can already access, then review the copied details for the new edition.

  2. Confirm the workspace and event details

Check Workspace before continuing. This determines which organization owns the event. Enter the Event title, choose what the event is for, and select the Event type. The available choices depend on your account.

  3. Optionally start from an existing website

If Event website is offered, paste the original event URL. This can help build an initial event from existing information. Treat imported text and dates as a starting point to review, not as verified facts.

  4. Create or build

Choose Create Event, or Build Event when starting from a website. Follow any plan or checkout step shown for your selection. If EHQ finds the race already exists, inspect it and choose Use this one when it is the same race. Create a separate event only when you actually need a different event.

  5. Review the event basics

Once the event opens, check its name, date, time zone, start times, location, and race options or distances. Replace last edition's details when you copied an event. Check the Website area separately before sharing a public link.

Check your work

Return to Events and reopen the event. Confirm it belongs to the intended workspace and the saved details are correct. Creating an event is not confirmation that its website is published, registration is open, or invitations have been sent.

If something is missing

If you cannot select the workspace or create an event, ask that workspace's administrator to check your access. If website import is unavailable, create the event with a title and enter its details manually. Do not create a duplicate just to get around an access problem.
